Job Title:
Junior Quantity Surveyor
Sector - Construction / Building projects
Projects include - Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, Residential, Retail, Leisure
Duties
Assisting in the oversight of financial flows and budgets, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

Establishing project budgets with detailed cost code allocations to facilitate precise and comprehensive cost reporting.

Collaborating with various departments to enhance cost efficiency and ensure timely project delivery while providing financial guidance on all construction aspects as needed.

Reviewing main contract and subcontract terms, including the transfer of conditions from the main contract to subcontracts.

Monitoring, reconciling, and recharging costs associated with shared items across internal teams and external partners.

Managing the procurement of subcontract packages, including the preparation of tender documentation.

Implementing a clear and transparent process for reporting current costs and forecasting completion costs.

Administering main contracts and subcontracts, including the preparation of contractual correspondence regarding delays and related claims.

Regularly engaging with the Employer's team to advance the commercial aspects of projects.

Overseeing daily staff resource management to ensure effective cost control throughout projects.

Conducting delay analyses, including drafting narratives and claims to support submissions.

Addressing subcontractor issues as they arise.

Ensuring that the variation and compensation event processes are followed accurately and promptly to safeguard the company's commercial interests.

Forecasting cash flow and compiling budgets.

Coordinating with procurement to establish and agree on project allowances.

Participating in progress and commercial meetings, representing the company in a financial capacity.

Candidate Requirements
Experience working with a general building contractor on comparable projects
Familiarity with JCT D&B suite of contracts is preferred
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Comprehensive understanding of surveying and contractual processes
Awareness of the financial implications of construction methods and sequences
In-depth knowledge of the construction sector
Proficient in commercial and financial management systems and controls
Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a growing organization
  • Proficient in computer applications
Solid and diverse commercial and contractual knowledge
Good understanding of financial management systems and controls
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
