About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Consultant to join our team at Mace Group. As a key member of our consult business, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional cost management services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support cost planning, including ownership of and presenting cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the procurement process, ensuring effective stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection, and contract preparation.
  • Deliver cost management services to achieve key strategic outcomes and KPIs, directly influencing strategic development of plans.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, advise on procurement strategies, and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.
  • Apply value management techniques at the outset of a project.
  • Manage, estimate, and cost plan activities, including taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Ensure final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
  • Be a key interface with clients, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Handle contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract.
  • Identify and act upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products, and services provided to clients.
  • Identify and act upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.
  • Previous experience working with private and public sector property and infrastructure clients beneficial.
  • JCT form of contract experience essential with some knowledge of NEC.
  • Cost planning, budgeting, and estimating experience.
  • Previous experience of managing people and risk management.
  • Knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on contract administration.
  • Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.
  • Strong understanding of industry best practice.
  • Understanding of hot topic issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, Carbon Reduction impacting Public Sector.
  • Capex V Opex Cost Analysis/advice.
