About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our UK General Insurance (GI) personal lines team within Aviva's UK legal function. As a key member of our team, you will provide commercial legal advice and regulatory guidance to drive forward Aviva's new and existing GI personal lines portfolio and support the UK growth agenda.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clear, commercial legal advice to the UKGI businesses in relation to their products and distribution arrangements.
  • Work closely with UKGI compliance, governance, and risk functions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with other members of the wider UK GI legal team and other relevant teams within Aviva's legal function to share best practice and build strong relationships.
  • Monitor and mitigate legal risks, reporting to the UKGI SLT as required.
  • Draft advice notes and provide input into Board and Committee papers.
Requirements
  • Solicitor, barrister, or legal executive, entitled to practice in the UK, or someone advanced in SQE studies.
  • Knowledge and experience of GI products, FCA rules, and Insurance distribution arrangements in a UK regulated market.
  • Negotiating experience and ability to manage relationships with internal stakeholders, third parties, and external advisers.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and lead transactions to deliver the best advice.
  • Strong commercial and strategic mindset with ability to see the bigger picture and deliver in terms of the best customer outcome and customer principles.

  • Salary circa £43,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
