Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, providing clinical pharmacy services to prisoners in a secure environment. As a Prison Pharmacist, you will work closely with our dispensary teams and healthcare staff to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines within the prison setting.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical pharmacy services to prisoners, including medication reviews, MURs, and advice on prescribed and over-the-counter medicines.
  • Working closely with healthcare staff to ensure safe prescribing practices and the effective use of medicines within the prison setting.
  • Supervising the day-to-day work of the pharmacy technician and managing their own time efficiently during prison visits.
  • Attending clinical governance and medicines management committee meetings to provide information and advice on pharmacy services.
  • Developing and implementing new prescribing guidelines and medicines management policies within the prison setting.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GPhC registration as a Pharmacist.
  • Experience of working in a prison or secure environment.
  • Sound basic clinical skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
