Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Yard Operations Team Leader to manage and oversee site operations at SYNETIQ, a leading integrated salvage, dismantling, and vehicle recycling company in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the organization of the yard, flow of vehicles, and housekeeping of the site to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards during the loading and unloading of transporters and the moving of vehicles between locations.
  • Lead a team of colleagues to complete tasks to the appropriate standard within the required timescale, providing excellent customer service and support to clients and suppliers.
  • Adhere to company guidelines and maintain a safe and efficient working environment, including site security, maintenance, and alarm maintenance.
  • Manage employees on a daily basis, including leave, sickness, and holidays, training, and mentoring new joiners.
  • Assist with employee issues, ensure employees have the correct safety equipment and tools, and attend site for call-outs to resolve issues.
  • Order fuel, oil, and sign off stationary requests, support the recruitment and development of Yard colleagues, and report to the environmental agency to ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Identify training needs, book courses, and ensure all personal protective equipment is available.
  • Carry out weekly site checks, update the site diary, and support the team to maintain its ISO27001 registration.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lead a team and maximize performance.
  • Full driving license.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Forklift truck license - rough terrain.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy.
  • Mechanical, metal recycling, or vehicle maintenance qualification (advantageous).
