Senior Personal Tax Consultant Position

A progressive accountancy firm is seeking a Senior Personal Tax Consultant to join their dedicated private client team.

Position Summary

The selected candidate will manage a select portfolio of tax clients, with the aim of expanding this portfolio through networking and local engagement. The firm will provide comprehensive support from leadership and marketing teams to facilitate the growth of your client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Management - Efficient oversight of a client portfolio
    • Planning, supervising, and reviewing tax assignments;
    • Conducting research and preparing reports on technical matters;
    • Engaging in discussions with directors and external advisors to resolve technical queries;
    • Participating in client meetings;
    • Ensuring projects are completed within budget, with explanations for any overruns;
    • Meeting all statutory deadlines;
    • Identifying and advising on value-added services;
    • Leading the firm's Inheritance Tax planning initiatives;
    • Promoting and executing ad hoc assignments, with prior fee agreements and adherence to deadlines;
    • Contributing to the overall efficiency of the team and the firm;
    • Proactively advising clients on their tax positions;
    • Keeping clients and the team informed about changes in tax legislation and providing necessary guidance.

Qualifications
  • Technical Expertise
  • Computer Proficiency - In-depth knowledge of CCH personal tax, CCH trust tax, CCH CGT, and dividend scheduling tools.
  • Staff Development
  • Practice Growth
  • CTA Qualified - or ATT pursuing CTA certification.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience, typically ranging from £50,000 to £60,000.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home up to three days a week after successful completion of the probation period.
  • 23 days of annual leave, excluding public holidays (with three days reserved for the Christmas and New Year period).
  • Eligibility for statutory sick pay, subject to qualifying conditions.
  • After one year of service, contractual sick pay entitlement increases to one month.
  • Workplace pension plan available after the probationary period.
  • Access to a Medicash Health Plan and BUPA benefits after the probationary period.
  • Life Assurance Scheme, providing three times the annual salary, available upon joining the workplace pension scheme.
  • Support for continuing professional development (CPD) courses.
