Chief Mechanical Engineer

Company: A leading UK supplier of innovative industrial and off-road systems.

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing industrial systems and related off-road products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop mechanical products in 3D, including 2D detail production drawings.
  2. Collaborate with electrical design engineers to update existing designs.
  3. Support the technical author as required.
  4. Work with an ERP system (Microsoft NAV or similar) and associated Bills of Materials.
  5. Utilize 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor or similar) and hand calculations, with experience in FEA Design.
  6. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as large fabrications.
  7. Experience with low-volume product design.
  8. Support production with technical enquiries.
  9. Preferred experience in industrial, rail, off-road, or heavy platform product design.

Requirements:

  1. Degree in a related subject (BEng, BSc) - Mechanical or Product Design Engineering.
  2. Ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer.
  3. Experience within an engineering and product design environment.
  4. Ability to lead a small team of engineers.
  5. Ability to liaise with electrical engineers and other departments.
  6. Commutable to the South Derby area.
