YOUR IMPACT

As a Junior debt financing lawyer, you will focus on loans and join Goldman Sachs' EMEA IB Legal loans team based in Birmingham or London. This is a highly proactive role guiding various business and non-revenue areas on execution and regulatory matters. You will work across a broad range of high-profile debt financing transactions, including leveraged buy-outs and refinancings, structured finance, real estate finance, acquisition financings, public-to-private transactions, investment grade loans, and growth market loans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and negotiating documents, including confidentiality agreements, release and reliance letters, engagement letters with vendors and clients, legal opinions, and finance documentation.
  • Advising on transaction structuring, deal documentation, diligence, regulatory, and reputational issues.
  • Assisting with ongoing portfolio management, including amendments, waivers, and upsizes, and involvement in restructurings, refinancings, and work-outs.
  • Advising on regulatory aspects and interacting with regulatory bodies.
  • Participating in the credit review process relating to loan transactions.
  • Liaising and coordinating with relevant groups throughout the firm, including other teams in the legal division, credit, loan operations, compliance, financial controllers, and tax.

Requirements:

  • Good team player, dynamic, and capable of working proactively on a wide range of issues in a fast-paced and challenging business environment, while adhering to firm policies and practices.
  • 0-3 year post-qualification experience at a top-tier law firm.
  • Experience of working in one or more of the following areas: acquisition finance, leveraged finance, real estate finance, structured financing.
