Job Summary
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing the coordination and scheduling of transportation activities to ensure efficient delivery of goods. This will involve managing a team and ensuring smooth operations within the logistics department.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of warehouse operatives, acting as the first point of contact for all training, performance, and people-related issues.
- Warehouse Management: Develop and establish best practice in warehouse management procedures, ensuring all team members receive a full induction and regular training, and that procedures are clearly communicated and followed.
- Workload Planning: Plan and monitor workload into the warehouse and plan staff resource within budget.
- Dispatch Management: Responsible for timely dispatch of wholesale parcel orders, ensuring they meet scheduled next-day deliveries.
- Quality Control: Supervise and undertake quality inspections to ensure customer specifications are met.
- Driver Interaction: Daily interaction with drivers collecting orders.
- Customer Service: Ability to communicate with customer services to ensure all delivery queries are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other warehouse managers to ensure the warehouse is operating efficiently and to help with any warehouse improvement projects.
- Communication: Liaise with customers, couriers, and haulage providers to answer any queries and handle any complaints.
- Warehouse Operations: Maintain a strong working relationship with all other Warehouse Operations teams, finance, stock accounting teams, and the internal audits.
- Health and Safety: Supervise and contribute towards general good housekeeping within the warehouse and vehicles, including reporting any damages to equipment. Champions excellent H&S and Warehouse standards and hygiene always, both personally and within the wider warehouse team, reporting any accidents or near misses.
Key Skills
- Logistics Experience: Previous experience within a fast-paced warehouse environment and a good understanding of distribution and supply chain.
- Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team to deliver excellent results.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the business and with our customers and suppliers.
- Adaptability: Embraces change and holds a relentless desire for continuous improvement and delivery of operational effectiveness.
- Flexibility: Flexibility.
- Email Etiquette: High standard email ethic.
- Resource Planning: Experienced in resource planning and able to work within agreed budgets.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Time Management: Ability to work to tight deadlines and within a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- WMS Experience: Experience with a recognized WMS (Manhattan, Infor, SAP) would be desirable.
