Job Summary

The South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Primary Practitioner to join our CAMHS team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to children and young people with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients and their carers, developing and implementing individualized care plans to address identified needs and risks.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, carers, and other agencies to provide effective care and support, ensuring needs are met and optimized.
  • Manage enquiries and direct referrals, participating in the team duty rota and contributing to service development within the clinical governance structure.
  • Maintain professional registration and demonstrate commitment to statutory codes of practice and continued professional development requirements.
Requirements
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist with a strong background in mental health care.
  • Experience in assessing and managing risk, as well as delivering therapeutic interventions and working with clients and carers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of current legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to mental health care, including the Mental Health Act and Care Programme Approach.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-basic qualifications and training in mental health care, such as a diploma or degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in mentoring or supporting learners, with a willingness to develop skills in this area.
  • Knowledge of audit processes and carer services, with the ability to incorporate these into care planning and delivery.
