Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to lead our Haematology Department, with a focus on Red Cell Haematology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the laboratory, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the Red Cell Haematology section, ensuring the effective management of staff and resources.
  • Develop and implement quality management systems to ensure compliance with UKAS and Governance Requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve patient outcomes and contribute to the development of our services.
  • Provide training and support to staff, promoting a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to the development of our laboratory's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the Trust's objectives.
Requirements
  • MSc in Biomedical Sciences or relevant discipline, or IBMS Special Examination (Fellowship).
  • Holder of the IBMS Specialist Diploma or CPSM log book.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • At least 5 years post HCPC registration in diagnostic Haematology & Blood Transfusion.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of effectively managing staff.
  • Experience of teaching staff.
  • Advanced QPulse user.
  • BBTS Specialist Certificate in Transfusion science practice.
