BBC Studios is committed to nurturing Welsh-speaking talent through various training initiatives, particularly in our long-standing soap opera and a contemporary queer romantic comedy. These positions are facilitated by BBC Studios in collaboration with a dedicated skills development organization.

Role of a Junior Audio Technician:

The Junior Audio Technician plays a vital support role within the Audio department. This position offers invaluable experience in a dynamic drama setting, providing a chance to learn and grow in a supportive and encouraging filming atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

As part of our audio team, you will gain insight into our equipment and its operation. Your tasks will include assisting with recording and playback, as well as supporting administrative and planning activities. You will learn how to manage audio files, including transferring, uploading, and organizing them, while gaining hands-on experience whenever possible.

Participants in the soap opera project will engage in classroom training and practical on-set experience during filming breaks. Successful candidates demonstrating commitment and enthusiasm may be offered additional shadowing opportunities once filming resumes.

Understanding the preparation and documentation necessary for production is crucial for anyone aspiring to work in television. The classroom component will provide essential knowledge, while on-set experience will allow for practical application of skills.

Participants in the romantic comedy project will spend the entire duration on set, integrating with the production team and learning in a more flexible manner compared to the structured environment of the soap opera project.

Under the guidance of a mentor, you will be assigned tasks that correspond to your skill level and enthusiasm. The role requires you to absorb information and learn from experienced professionals around you.
