Position Overview
As a Building Controls Solutions Architect at Technical Global Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and executing innovative integrated solutions for substantial commercial initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass managing the integration of Building Systems and Smart Building Solutions across diverse technologies and vendors. You will also assess and introduce new technologies to elevate the client's existing solutions portfolio. Acting as the primary technical liaison, you will collaborate closely with clients, vendors, project managers, and implementation engineers to guarantee successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Systems Integration: Seamlessly integrate various building systems utilizing protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, Dali, OPC, and others. Provide expert advice to system owners to ensure flawless integration.
- Cloud IoT Configuration: Configure cloud IoT solutions across platforms including GCP, AWS, Azure, and Mosquitto. This includes tasks such as MQTT device configuration, JSON payload structuring, and topic structuring.
- Building Modeling: Employ industry standards such as BRICK, Haystack, and DBO for building modeling. Define characteristics and relationships among different devices and assets within a building.
- Standards Implementation: Enforce Asset & Point naming standards, ensuring compliance by system owners.
- Data Validation: Validate data at the building network level and data being published to cloud platforms. Ensure accuracy and consistency across systems.
- Protocol Translation: Facilitate translation from native system protocols to Cloud IoT protocols where necessary, bridging gaps in system capabilities.
- Software Collaboration: Work alongside the software department to define requirements for in-house dashboards utilized across multiple projects. This includes building system pages and creating FDD rules and energy/efficiency calculations.
Essential Experience/Requirements
- BMS Commissioning: Extensive experience (5+ years) in commissioning Building Management Systems across various projects.
- BMS Project/Design Engineering: Proven experience (5+ years) in BMS project or design engineering.
- HVAC & Building Controls: Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building controls.
- Controller Experience: Experience with multiple controller types, with a preference for Tridium Niagara.
- Protocol Knowledge: Basic understanding of BACnet, Modbus, and IP networking.
- IoT Solutions: Familiarity with MQTT and other IoT solutions.
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Building Modeling: Experience with building modeling standards like BRICK, Haystack, and DBO.
- Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with GCP, AWS, or Azure cloud platforms.
- Building Systems: Understanding of other building systems such as lighting, fire, and lifts.
- BIM/CAD Experience: Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
- Fault Detection Diagnosis (FDD): Experience with Fault Detection Diagnosis processes.
- Energy Efficiency: Experience with energy and efficiency calculations.
- Network Protocols: Knowledge of additional network protocols such as OPC, KNX, and M-bus.
- Software Engineering: Background in software engineering.
- Certifications: CCNA or other Cisco qualifications.
