Lead Researcher and Lecturer in Marine Biology

ECO Magazine is seeking a highly skilled and experienced researcher and lecturer in marine biology to join our team at the University of Southampton.

About the Role:

We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in marine biology, coastal and shelf processes, ocean-climate systems, or any other area of ocean science. As a researcher and lecturer, you will have the opportunity to develop innovative research proposals, teaching programmes, and funding bids, and to maximize the impact of your research in societal, industrial, and/or policy matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in marine biology and related fields, with a focus on developing innovative research proposals and funding bids.
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in marine biology and related fields, with a focus on delivering high-quality teaching and developing innovative teaching programmes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines, including physics, chemistry, biology, geoscience, and engineering, to develop multi-disciplinary research and education opportunities.
  • Develop and manage research budgets, and coordinate research activities with colleagues and external partners.
  • Present research findings at meetings and conferences, and publish research in reputable journals.

Requirements:

  • PhD in marine biology or a related field, or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Strong track record of published research and teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and external partners.
  • Passion for educating the next generation of ocean scientists, with a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and research.
