Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Hertford

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who require additional help due to SEMH challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support SEMH Students: Provide individualized support to SEMH students in classroom settings, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
  • Implement IEPs and Behavior Management Strategies: Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies tailored to the needs of SEMH students.
  • Build Rapport and Trust: Establish strong relationships with students to create a supportive and nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with Teachers: Work closely with teachers to monitor progress and development of SEMH students.
  • Promote Positive Behavior: Encourage and promote positive behavior and emotional regulation techniques.

Requirements:

  • Experience Working with SEMH Students: Previous experience working with SEMH students in a school or similar setting.
  • Understanding of SEMH Challenges: Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective strategies to support these needs.
  • Ability to Manage Challenging Behavior: Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behavior sensitively.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
