Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Gameplay Designer to join our team. As a key member of our Gameplay Design team, you will be responsible for driving the creation of player features and systems from prototype to release.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Quality: Responsible for the design and quality of the game's player systems and features from prototype to shipping.
  2. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with directors and leads to ensure delivery of engaging stealth and combat gameplay loops.
  3. Feature Development: Be responsible for the feature development for player game design.
  4. Evangelism: Evangelise core gameplay features across the project, develop best practices for designers to utilise in their content.
  5. Player Experience: Ensure that players can understand and use the features in fun and compelling ways.
  6. Feedback and Analysis: Analyse, validate, and incorporate feedback from the team and external user testing.
  7. Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Collaborate in cross-discipline pods to implement, tune, and balance gameplay.
  8. Design Documentation: Author and maintain design documentation.
Leadership Responsibilities
  1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of designers to shape the player's experience within the game.
  2. Coaching and Mentoring: Provide coaching and mentoring to the team.
  3. Empowerment: Empower the team to deliver high-quality work.
  4. Collaboration with Production: Collaborate with production to deliver features, systems, and assets on time and to required quality.
Requirements
  1. Passion for Gameplay Mechanics: Passion for owning and iterating on fun mechanics that will engage players.
  2. Balance Tuning Experience: Experience and deep working knowledge of balance tuning.
  3. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Cross-disciplinary collaboration is second nature to you, and you know how to use diverse opinions to bring the best out of your features.
  4. Unreal Engine Experience: Experience working with Unreal Engine.
  5. Shipped AAA Games: Shipped one or more AAA game titles in a lead gameplay/design role or similar.
  6. Prioritisation and Scheduling: Ability to drive prioritisation and scheduling of work for the whole department.
  7. Collaboration and Documentation: Strong collaboration skills, able to work well with team members from other disciplines and in other locations. Strong documentation skills, proficiency with wiki systems or Confluence is a plus.
