About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at DS Smith Packaging in Devizes. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant by performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and implementing preventative maintenance schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and inspection of equipment.
  2. Perform troubleshooting and repair of equipment issues, working closely with engineering colleagues and vendors.
  3. Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance.
  4. Ensure all maintenance activities meet quality standards, adhering to company procedures and regulations.
  5. Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and source parts, materials, and consumables.
  6. Conduct dynamic risk assessments on all maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe working environment.
  7. Control stocks of materials and consumables, ensuring efficient use and minimizing waste.
  8. Stay up-to-date with all stop devices and procedures on equipment, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Requirements
  1. Sound engineering experience working in a maintenance environment, with a mechanical bias preferred.
  2. Electrical or Mechanical apprenticeship with multi-skilled knowledge.
  3. Computer literacy, with proficiency in Excel and Word.
  4. Experience with autonomous maintenance practices and maintenance management systems (SAP) is advantageous.
  5. Strong fault-finding skills and knowledge, with the ability to work well individually and within a small team.
