Maintenance Engineering Apprentice

First Base is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Stonehouse location. This is a full-time, permanent role with day shift hours and an early finish on Fridays.

Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining all company plant and equipment in a good and safe working order, ensuring compliance with best practice and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer, the Senior Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is compliant with legal requirements and liaising with insurance inspectors as necessary.
- The role will also involve maintaining up-to-date registers and lists pertaining to equipment and plant, as well as ensuring the testing of fire alarms and emergency lighting at appropriate times.
- The Senior Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures, as well as environmental policies and procedures.
- The role will also involve investigating risks and issues with manufacturing challenges, developing short-term and long-term plans to address these issues, and working with the Logistics Manager and Chief Maintenance Engineer to schedule repairs.
- The Senior Maintenance Engineer will also be responsible for updating KPIs and reporting on these as agreed in BIC meetings.
- Additionally, the role will involve working with the Development Team on development projects, such as oil systems and roller boxes.
- As a supervisor of staff, the Senior Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that staff have planned workloads in place for day-to-day duties and conducting regular appraisals.
Requirements
- The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with experience in press design and construction, fabrication, and electrical knowledge (18th Edition preferred).
- They will also have experience in maintenance engineering, including keeping maintenance records up-to-date and generating PPM and breakdown maintenance reports.
