Job Purpose

The University of Glasgow is embarking on a transformative strategic initiative, encompassing significant changes to its ERP and Research Management systems. As a key member of the project leadership team, you will be responsible for project managing a complex, large-scale project with multiple external partners and stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Design and implement project tracking infrastructure, ensuring all workstreams progress according to plan and issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  2. Develop and implement the governance and management structure of the project, including funding models, contractual agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding.
  3. Provide leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring alignment with internal and external deadlines and meeting schedules.
  4. Design, develop, and manage the information repository for all associated activities, facilitating easy identification and access to key project data.
  5. Develop and maintain an accurate spend profile for the project, meeting funder requirements and ensuring partner spend plans and commitments are delivered within budget.
  6. Oversee and implement contracts with external consultants and advisors, ensuring timely commissioning and delivery of services.
  7. Responsible owner for the risk management framework, implementing processes for uniform adoption across all project activities.
  8. Build and maintain a broad range of networks beneficial to the achievement of strategic project objectives.
  9. Maintain strategic oversight of development, identifying areas where coherence of strategy or strategic operational activities is required.
Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceEssential:
  • A1: Demonstrated strategic competencies, acquired through professional knowledge and leadership experience in specialist roles.
  • A2: Knowledge and experience of contractual, financial, HR, and governance issues associated with complex collaborations.
  • A3: Experiential knowledge of industry quality standards in project management.
  • A4: Extensive knowledge of specific project management methodologies.
Skills:
  • C1: Excellent project management skills, with evidence of managing diverse and multifaceted projects.
  • C2: Highly developed strategic planning skills, with proven business and financial acumen.
  • C3: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • C4: Highly developed negotiation skills, with evidence of influencing at senior management level.
  • C5: Ability to present complex information in an accessible and engaging way.
  • C6: Ability to plan and organize own and team workload effectively.
  • C7: High level of personal resilience, able to manage competing priorities and ambiguity.
  • C8: Ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • C9: Proven ability to motivate and develop teams to the highest standards.
Experience:
  • E1: Experience of building and sustaining positive relationships with a wide range of organizations.
  • E2: Significant experience using project planning software and creating schedules of work.
  • E3: Proven record of accomplishment in the successful delivery of partnership-based projects.
  • E4: Direct experience of working with public and private bodies in the UK or internationally.
  • E5: Experience of developing successful strategic business cases and proposals.
  • E6: Evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
Terms and Conditions

Salary: Grade 9, £57,696 - £64,914 per annum. This is a full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended (permanent) position. As a member of Team UofG, you will be part of a world-changing, inclusive community that values ambition, excellence, integrity, and curiosity.
