Responsibilities include:

  • Designing AC & DC power generation and distribution frameworks, encompassing sizing, protection, control, and the specification of power supplies and converters.
  • Developing motor drives, control systems, and positioning mechanisms.
  • Managing and verifying electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Specifying custom procured hardware.
  • Conducting design verification through a blend of simulation, analysis, and testing methodologies, including collaboration with EMC testing facilities and customer installations.
  • Producing design documentation and technical reports.
  • Collaborating with related engineering disciplines.
  • Adhering to the Engineering Lifecycle and contributing to progress, peer, and design evaluations.
  • Providing Electrical Engineering expertise to the project team.

Your qualifications and experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a closely related field, with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Creating component-level electronic designs for mass production.
  • Previous experience in a defense or high safety integrity environment.
  • Familiarity with Electrical Safety Standards and EMC qualification to DEF STAN.
  • Design validation, integration, and defect resolution.
  • Collecting evidence to support acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative compliance, and safety.
  • A meticulous approach to safety considerations associated with high power/high voltage equipment.
  • Experience in supporting new electrical circuit board layouts/designs and upgrades.
