About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Operations Manager to join our team at DS Smith's Packaging facility in Kettering. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their management and data analysis skills in a FTSE 100 organisation, while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our warehouse and transportation services.

The primary focus of this role is to oversee the day-to-day activities in the goods in, reel store, and finished good despatch areas, ensuring that our team and transportation providers adhere to our high safety and quality standards. This includes implementing effective processes to ensure the smooth flow of products in and out of the loading areas, as well as analysing and optimising our transportation operations to deliver products to our customers in the most efficient way.

This role will also be responsible for managing our relationships with third-party logistics providers, negotiating pricing and supply agreements, and maintaining an organised system to ensure site audibility. Additionally, you will be responsible for analysing key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to drive business growth.

About You

  • Previous experience in a transportation planning or haulage environment
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to build relationships and work well with colleagues
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to negotiate new agreements with suppliers
  • Strong IT literacy, with experience of using Excel and SAP
  • Some experience of data analysis would be advantageous
