About This Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Mental Health team (IMHT) in Cannock. This is a unique developmental post offering the chance to cultivate essential skills and competencies, ultimately progressing to a Band 6 role within an 18-month period.

Your Role

As a Developmental Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to adults experiencing mental health challenges. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to formulate assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and support patients in achieving their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' needs and functional abilities.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient requirements.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide direct therapy interventions to patients, focusing on improving their independence, coping skills, and overall well-being.
  • Advocate for patients' needs and ensure they receive appropriate care and support.

Your Development Journey

This developmental post provides a structured pathway for your professional growth. Your competencies will be regularly reviewed through appraisals and supervision, guiding you towards the Band 6 role. Upon demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of the Band 6 Occupational Therapist position, you will be eligible to progress.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Dip COT or degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Membership of the College of Occupational Therapists (COT)
  • Experience formulating assessments, planning, coordinating, and supporting adults experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Experience integrating care delivery across multidisciplinary/multi-agency teams.
  • Experience leading/contributing to CPA/SAP process.
