Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Orion Group is seeking a highly skilled Drilling Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and planning wells, as well as overseeing the execution of drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and plan wells, including creating well programs and evaluating design options using Landmark software.
  • Prepare examination and notification/consent applications, as well as time and cost estimates.
  • Procure services, equipment, and materials, and coordinate with suppliers and service providers.
  • Provide technical support for pre-contract invitation to tender and tender evaluation processes.
  • Prepare procurement documentation and present well design reviews.
  • Compile weekly summaries of well operations and participate in daily calls to the rig.
  • Compile comprehensive End-Of-Well Reports and well files.
  • Support well delivery efficiency and benchmarking.
  • Investigate and close out instances of non-productive time.
  • Provide input and resources to improve Wells Management System and supply chain planning.
  • Occasional offshore visits to support well operations.
  • Meet company, partner, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge and experience in well design and planning, including P+A activities.
  • Experience with Landmark well planning software package.
  • Operational experience of slot recovery/P+A operations, including section milling and remedial cementing.
  • ERD design and practices, including casing floatation.
  • Complex well paths and anti-collision management.
  • UK platform wells operation and UK regulatory regime.

A current IWCF L4 Well Control and UK Medical and Survival certification are also required.
