Unit Catering Supervisor

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Unit Catering Supervisor to join our team at Lancashire County Council. As a key member of our catering team, you will be responsible for supervising the running of the kitchen and staff, ensuring the provision of high-quality, healthy, balanced meals for school children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the preparation and serving of food and beverages in accordance with agreed menus and production plans.
  • Direct and/or supervise other employees to ensure efficient and effective kitchen operations.
  • Order supplies and store deliveries to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Maintain accurate records and stock control to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ensure that all kitchen areas meet agreed standards and associated documentation in relation to food and kitchen hygiene.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in large-scale catering, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of food service and catering principles, including food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Strong organizational, cost control, and supervisory skills to manage a team and maintain efficient kitchen operations.
  • Recognized supervisor or team leader qualification would be desirable.
Working Hours/Days:
  • Monday to Friday.
  • Term time only.
  • 27.5 hours per week, although hours are variable depending upon school meal uptake.
