Position Overview:
This role is designed for a dedicated individual to implement Glaucoma UK's outreach, training, and engagement initiatives within the Wales region. The focus will be on enhancing public awareness, providing essential services for individuals affected by glaucoma, and delivering educational programs for healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategies to raise awareness of glaucoma, particularly among communities at higher risk of sight loss.
  • Facilitate training sessions for healthcare professionals to improve their understanding and management of glaucoma.
  • Utilize communication platforms and social media to promote regional events, ensuring maximum participation from high-risk groups.
  • Offer community support to individuals living with glaucoma, including the establishment of support networks and hosting informational events.
  • Collaborate with the Development Manager to create a digital support program, including webinars and virtual engagement opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison for local organizations that assist individuals living with glaucoma.
  • Contribute articles for newsletters and other publications to highlight outreach efforts.
  • Work alongside the fundraising and membership team to align outreach activities with organizational goals.
  • Encourage patient involvement in relevant research initiatives.
  • Coordinate with volunteers to enhance the delivery of outreach services.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate outreach effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of all outreach activities.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and relevant legislation.
  • Promote sustainable practices within outreach and training activities to minimize environmental impact.
  • Represent the organization at external meetings and events as required.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through networking and attending relevant conferences.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals living with glaucoma.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable operating in a digital environment.
  • Strong numerical skills for data collection and analysis.
  • Willingness to travel across Wales and work flexible hours when necessary.
  • Understanding of the health and social care landscape related to eye health.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Welsh is required.
