Job Title: R&D Tax Senior Manager

At KPMG, we're seeking a seasoned professional to lead our R&D tax advisory services. As a Senior Manager, you'll be responsible for managing engagement teams, developing claim methodologies, and preparing R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and work with engagement teams to develop claim methodologies and prepare R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC.
  • Lead meetings with senior IT technical and financial client stakeholders, providing expert advice on innovation advisory services.
  • Manage the process for preparing technical and financial elements of client deliverables, including reports documenting work undertaken by clients within complex IT projects.
  • Lead client projects across tax and technical work streams, managing conflicting resourcing requirements between projects.
  • Lead by example in client relationships, technical quality, and service delivery.
  • Liaise with HMRC specialists to facilitate agreement of R&D claims.
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Build an internal network within the wider tax practice of the firm.
  • Lead in progressing business development opportunities and pitch for work with new and existing clients.
Requirements:
  • Honours/Post Graduate Degree in an Information Technology related discipline.
  • Detailed working knowledge of R&D tax legislation and its application to IT activities, with significant industry experience in IT and ability to rapidly grasp new technical concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking to assist clients in applying complex legislation to real-life situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and explain complex legislative concepts to information technologists in industry.
  • Ability to produce high-quality, professional documentation and reports for C-suite stakeholders within clients.
  • Project management skills and ability to manage own workload well, delegating to staff members.
