Our operations run 24/7, and you will cover various early and late shifts, including bank holidays. Flexibility is essential, as the nature of the role may require working beyond the standard hours. While it is uncommon, there may be occasions where evening or overnight work is necessary. However, we provide a rota system that allows for meaningful time off to enjoy your personal interests.
Role Overview:
As a Custody Transport Officer, you will work as part of a team to ensure safe and secure transportation and custody services. Your responsibilities will include collecting detainees from various locations and ensuring their safe transit to court while attending to their physical and mental wellbeing.
Upon arrival at court, you will oversee all aspects of their care until they are either returned to custody or released. Key responsibilities include accompanying defendants in court, conducting searches, ensuring access to food and drink, and completing necessary documentation.
Qualifications:
Our current Custody Transport Officers come from diverse backgrounds; prior experience is not a requirement. What matters is your commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. The necessary skills will be developed during the comprehensive training program.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, with specific license types preferred. Good physical fitness and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for managing various situations effectively. This role is particularly suited for individuals with an interest in criminology or psychology.
Assessment Process:
The selection process includes an online assessment, a briefing call to evaluate eligibility, a competency-based virtual interview, and a role-play and written exercise.
Additional Information:
All positions are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks and satisfactory employment references.
