Position Title: Lead Systems Architect
Location: Manchester, hybrid – 1-2 days from our Manchester office
Role Overview:
The primary objective of this role is to enhance the infrastructure and platforms utilized internally to provide consultancy services to our clientele. This position demands a hands-on technical approach, requiring a diverse set of skills that span across infrastructure, networking, and Linux environments. By leveraging automation and infrastructure as code principles, you will contribute to the design and architecture of both new and existing systems.
- Implementing systems and platforms with adherence to best practices, ensuring security measures are in place, and meeting established availability and service level expectations.
- Developing new systems and platforms based on approved designs.
- Acting as a central knowledge resource for platforms and services.
- Serving as the final escalation point for any inquiries related to platforms and services.
- Providing engineering support to cross-functional service teams.
- Collaborating closely with Technical Operations to ensure successful change management activities.
- Maintaining productive relationships with software and service vendors.
- Partnering with Technical Operations and Service Delivery to create and update documentation and training resources.
- Investigating and integrating innovative technologies into the NCC Group network lifecycle.
- Working alongside the Governance and Change team to manage all budgetary expenditures related to platforms and services.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Systems Architect, you will be accountable for the preparation and support of IT operational solutions and services, whether physical or virtual. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
- Mentoring team members by sharing valuable insights and expertise.
- Contributing to the management and successful execution of programs and projects.
- Ensuring the seamless integration and delivery of services according to requirements.
- Leading the design and architectural development of IT systems, working closely with various departments and stakeholders to oversee the creation of complex global IT solutions.
- Promoting collaboration with operational teams to sustain a cohesive global services platform.
- Upholding NCC Group's commitment to a unified and adaptable platform, consistently delivering essential tools, interfaces, and components for our products and services.
- Collaborating extensively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive digital transformation initiatives.
- Leading cross-functional teams responsible for managing specific services or infrastructure types.

Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Linux (Ubuntu/Debian)
- Experience with Ansible and its Automation Platform
- Familiarity with VMWare
- Knowledge of Jinja2 Templating
- Proficiency in PHP and Python
- Understanding of HTML/CSS/JS
- Basic knowledge of Networking (L2/L3)
- Experience with Version Control (Git/Gitlab)
- Familiarity with Gitlab CI/CD
- Proficiency in SQL (MySQL/MariaDB/Postgres)
- Experience with Linux Containerization (Docker/Docker-Compose)
- Knowledge of PHP with REST APIs
- Background in Infrastructure
- Understanding of Remote Access VPN
- Knowledge of Forward/Reverse Proxy
- Familiarity with X.509 / PKI
