Job Overview

Service Care Solutions is collaborating with Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) to identify a proficient Application Software Engineer. This position entails executing development and integration tasks for essential applications and services within CTPHQ.

As an Application Software Engineer, you will lend your expertise in design and development while engaging in technical activities throughout the project lifecycle—from initial phases to service transition.

This hands-on role necessitates substantial contributions in both software engineering and design. You will also serve as a vital team member providing third-line software support for critical national applications and services.

Key Duties

  • Create and develop technical solutions that satisfy both business and technical platform needs.
  • Ensure solutions are in alignment with strategic technical and business goals.
  • Take responsibility for designs, from high-level strategic concepts to detailed configuration and installation.
  • Engage throughout the project lifecycle, from defining requirements to aiding in the transition to production environments.
  • Automate the build and deployment of applications and services utilizing corporate deployment pipelines.
  • Develop, configure, deliver, and integrate applications and services across various environments, including the creation of all necessary technical documentation.
  • Provide support to second-line application teams to maintain critical services for applications, infrastructure, and services.
  • Assist in refining DevOps processes and tools to enhance CTPHQ's development capabilities.
Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong expertise in ASP.NET Core / C# development
  • Proficient in fundamental web development technologies: HTML, CSS & JavaScript
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server & T-SQL, and PostgreSQL
  • Proficient in unit and integration testing
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including Nexus, Bitbucket, SonarQube, Jenkins, and AWX
  • Experience with containerization technologies: Docker, Kubernetes & HELM
  • Comfortable working in both Linux (CentOS) & Windows environments
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience in large-scale business change and IT transformation initiatives
  • In-depth knowledge of Government Security Classification and related security policies
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
Desirable Experience

  • Experience in the policing sector or Central Government
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Blazor and building Single Page Applications
  • Experience with SIEM Tools, RabbitMQ, and Big Data technologies such as Elastic Search
