Job Overview:

CV-Library is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead and advise on the long-term maintenance of Electrical, Control and Instrumentation systems. This role is responsible for the management of the long-term integrity of all HV and LV Electrical systems, DCS, Control and Instrumentation systems, ensuring high levels of safety, reliability, technical and legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the integrity of HV/LV Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) systems, including Generators, Transformers, Motors, Electrical control systems, DC systems, and HV/LV distribution systems.
  2. Collaborate with the EC&I Support Engineer and EC&I Graduate Engineer to distribute responsibilities, ensuring high levels of availability, reliability, knowledge retention, and through life management of Langage DCS systems on both software and hardware, while maintaining compliance to relevant internal and external technical standards and legislation.
  3. Plan and execute electrical inspections activities, both technically and financially, during scheduled outages.
  4. Develop a longer-term planning view, managing the asset through station life and system obsolescence.
  5. Ensure the correct maintenance plans are in place for electrical and control systems, carried out, and the periodicity is correct to maximise reliability.
  6. Support the Engineering and Maintenance teams in fault finding, engineering solutions, and root cause analysis on electrical and control issues.
  7. Deliver on and project manage capital projects on electrical and control systems such as upgrades and replacement.
  8. Contribute to budget planning across a 5-year rolling business plan period for electrical systems. Oversee and manage within-year delivery and phasing of electrical budgets.
  9. Manage electrical contracts through identification, budgeting, specification, and execution.
  10. Lead on management of Electrical works, ensuring high levels of quality management and documentation at all stages.
Requirements:
  • 75% office / 25% plant work typically, but during outage periods can flip to 25% office and 75% plant.
  • HV (up to 21KV) and LV Electrical equipment including transmission and distribution.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes, cope with pressurised situations, flexible approach to changes in priority and adhering to deadlines.
Qualifications:
  • Degree and/or HND/HNC in an Electrical Engineering discipline with extensive industrial experience.
  • Training plan to work towards HV SAP (High Voltage Senior Authorised Person).
  • Up to 10% of annual salary as a bonus (if performance is rated 'outstanding' bonus increases to up to 12% of annual salary).
