About the Role

A dynamic and inclusive primary school in Kirkby is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support the learning and development of Year 5 pupils. This exciting opportunity involves working closely with the class teacher to provide individualized support, assist with classroom management, and contribute to the academic and social well-being of the students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons that align with the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils, especially in core subjects like literacy, numeracy, and science.
  • Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and maintain a positive, stimulating learning environment.
  • Encourage the social and emotional development of Year 5 pupils by promoting positive behavior and fostering an inclusive classroom culture.
  • Assist with the assessment and monitoring of student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher to aid in planning.
  • Support pupils with additional needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN), to help them achieve their individual learning goals.
  • Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within Key Stage 2 (KS2).
  • A patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to working with older primary pupils.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and science.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, in line with school policies.
