Position Overview

Are you a Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer seeking your next opportunity?

Due to an increase in our project demands, we are in search of a Chartered (or Nearly Chartered) Engineer to become a part of our esteemed Building Structures Team in Birmingham. You will be engaged in delivering a diverse range of projects within the Building Design sector, both nationally and internationally. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the creation of designs that are technically advanced, ethical, sustainable, and equitable, contributing to projects that enhance the quality of life for individuals today and in the future.

AtkinsRéalis’ Building Design practice provides engineering solutions across a variety of projects related to buildings and infrastructure, spanning sectors such as Education, Commercial, Industrial, Residential, Defence, Energy, and Transportation. This role presents an opportunity to collaborate with significant clients on engaging and high-profile projects that will leverage and expand your expertise and career trajectory.

Key Qualifications:
  • Chartered Engineer status, MIStructE or MICE (or nearly Chartered).
  • Proven experience in leading the structural engineering execution of small-scale projects, including managing focused project teams to meet established deadlines and budgets.
  • Strong background in the design of common structural materials, along with a solid understanding of current design standards and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing projects from initial concept through to construction.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to foster client relationships.
  • Ability to make informed decisions, take initiative, and operate proactively.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver multiple projects or segments of larger projects to successful completion, adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
  • Ensure the provision of efficient, high-quality structural engineering design.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, design teams, and external parties.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior team members.
  • Effectively manage your time, especially when assigned to multiple projects.
  • Develop client relationships and assist in identifying business opportunities.
  • This position may necessitate security clearance, and employment offers will be contingent upon obtaining the required level of clearance. This will be discussed during the interview process.

Compensation and Benefits:

We provide a competitive salary that is regularly benchmarked against industry standards, along with a default of 25 days of annual leave plus public holidays, with options to buy or sell leave.

Additional Information:

This role may require security clearance, and employment offers will depend on obtaining the necessary level of clearance. If this is required, it will be discussed during the interview. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for five years or longer.
