Job Description

We're seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Defence Sector team. As a member of our team, you'll work with clients to deliver high-profile projects and programmes. You'll be responsible for leading and managing project teams, delivering results through others, and ensuring high-quality delivery on client assignments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage project teams or work streams as part of larger projects and deliver results through others.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure commercial awareness.
  • Be responsible for high-quality delivery on client assignments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in one or more related business/infrastructure sector areas.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of relevant project management skillsets.
  • Build long-term trusted advisor relationships with clients.
  • Communicate effectively and focus on efficient, collaborative, and quality delivery.

Desired Experience

  • Previous experience of working with UK Government organisations, particularly in the Defence sector.
  • Experience of project management and/or programme management, adding value at the initial strategic planning phase all the way into implementation, construction, and delivery in the context of infrastructure projects and programmes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working with a diverse range of personalities across clients and partner organisations.
  • Ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to deliver projects within a technically complex environment while ensuring high levels of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to rapidly understand complex problems and shape them into workable solutions for delivery.
  • Ability to develop and deliver high-quality output against stated business and technical project objectives and meet tight deadlines safely.
  • High level of drive, commitment to achieving solutions, and ability to work under pressure and motivate others with the same objective.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously.
  • Ability to develop concise and effective written presentations and participate effectively in meetings with senior client representatives.
  • Previous experience of procurement and managing NEC contracts would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience of managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors on infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HND qualification in an engineering, construction, or infrastructure-related subject.
  • Professionally qualified or near-qualified status with the APM, ICE, CIWEM, or similar professional institution would be advantageous.
  • Project management certification is preferred (APM/PRINCE2/MSP).
  • NEC PM Accreditations or qualifications would be desirable.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of this role and the specific security requirements of our clients, applicants must have MoD UKSV SC clearance or the ability to attain it.
