Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Project Department to join our team at Vickerstock. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the full portfolio of customer projects, providing expert knowledge and support to the project delivery team, and monitoring progress and reporting on the portfolio status.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously monitor the health of the project management department and identify gaps between current practice and best practice.
  • Ensure that all project engineers and managers have a thorough understanding of their commercial contracts.
  • Review the success of and identify any gaps in the project management governance framework.
  • Facilitate and support improved inter-departmental integration and alignment with the framework across business functions.
  • Manage and mentor the project management team to ensure a people-centric, positive, supportive, and empowering team culture.
  • Ensure that each team member has relevant objectives and that regular performance reviews are carried out.
  • Identify and implement the most appropriate data-gathering practices for monitoring, controlling, and reporting project data.
  • Standardise portfolio management methods and documentation.
  • Strengthen learning and engagement throughout the business by creating communities of practice and knowledge management opportunities.
  • Monitor the portfolio performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of project management best practices.

Requirements:

  • A minimum 5 years experience in a similar senior project management type role.
  • A high proficiency in dealing with and working to high value contractual legal agreements.
  • Extensive people management and front end customer management skills.
  • Experience of project management and capacity planning software.
