Job Title: HVDC Cooling Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled HVDC Cooling Systems Engineer to join our team at Quest Global Engineering Limited.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing cooling systems for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) applications. This will involve working closely with suppliers to realize designs based on specifications and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop cooling system schemes for HVDC applications
  • Prepare cooling plant specifications prior to requesting for quotes (RFQ)
  • Review mechanical and electrical drawings, including pump unit general arrangement, treatment unit general arrangement, cooling room layout, coolers layout, pipe routing, civil guide drawings, and support structure guide drawings
  • Validate equipment sizing, instrumentation specification, and selection
  • Prepare spare part lists, special tool lists, and commissioning spare part lists for pure-water cooling systems
  • Witness cooling system testing at supplier facilities
  • Supervise cooling system installation and commissioning at customer sites
  • Perform technical evaluations of supplier proposals and documentation
  • Compile design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) and design documentation
  • Develop and implement innovative technical solutions for patent applications
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in cooling systems, heat dissipation, and heat transfer
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics, component design, and selection, piping design, control system specification, and instrumentation specification
  • Proven ability in product design, validation, and industrialization
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and 3D drawing packages (Creo)
  • Ability to prepare P&ID drawings and use 2D drawing packages to prepare GA and layout drawings
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of pure water cooling of high-power and high-voltage design and control issues
  • Prior experience of supplier chain integration
  • Intellectual property and patent process experience
  • Ability to coordinate and lead a small group of engineers
