La Mancha is seeking a highly skilled Mining Engineer to join its investment team. As a core member of the team, you will participate fully in the investment process, reporting directly to the Chief Technical Officer on project assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines, including coordinating with external consultants.
- Lead and coordinate mining and processing due diligence, including evaluation of mine plans, validation of mineral reserves and mining models, and assessment of processing technology.
- Conduct detailed due diligence on technical reports and studies prior to potential investments, including technical assumptions, parameters, and cost estimates.
- Produce a detailed risks and opportunities matrix, including modifying factors.
- Collaborate with the investment team to provide investment recommendations.
Post-Investment:
Support the team in monitoring portfolio companies' operational performance and provide regular technical updates by reviewing monthly performance reports and producing analytical reports on production and reconciliation.
Requirements:
- BEng or MSc in Mining Engineering.
- 10+ years' experience as a Mine Planning Engineer with strong operational and consulting experience.
- Proven project management skills, including handling conflicting priorities and managing external service providers.
- Extensive open pit and underground operational experience.
- Ability to create and review mine plans (short-term and life of asset).
- Strong understanding of ore reserves' modifying factors and cost estimation (capital & operating).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in preliminary economic analysis.
- Prior experience with an investment fund or financial institution in the mineral sector.
- Ability to estimate underground/open pit reserves from resource models.
Working Conditions:
Located in Central London with business travel as required.
