Job Summary:

Nicholas Associates is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Control Systems Engineer Trainee to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for maintaining safety standards, supporting operational and project activities, and conducting engineering surveys.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain Safety Standards: Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  2. Support Operational and Project Activities: Collaborate with the engineering team to deliver electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering activities, including vendor and contractor management.
  3. Conduct Engineering Surveys: Conduct site surveys for new installations, upgrades, and removal or replacement of EC&I equipment.
  4. Design EC&I Systems: Design and document EC&I systems using standard software packages.
  5. Prepare Support Documentation: Develop training materials and training for end-users.
  6. Install and Commission EC&I Equipment: Conduct the installation and commissioning of EC&I equipment.
  7. Apply Software Engineering: Apply software engineering across EC&I systems, including TBox programming, Pilz programming, and network device setup.
  8. Program and Repair Rod Pump Off Controllers: Program, repair, and install Rod Pump Off Controllers.
  9. Fault Finding and Maintenance: Conduct fault-finding investigative techniques and maintain equipment integrity.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Electrical/Electronic Engineering Qualification: Hold a qualification in Electrical/Electronic engineering or equivalent.
  2. Travel Requirements: Be willing to travel as part of the role.
  3. Oil & Gas Operations Knowledge: Have knowledge of Oil & Gas operations and hazardous areas.
  4. Engineering Documentation: Possess knowledge of engineering documentation, including block diagrams, PFDs, SLDs, P&IDs, C&E charts, Schematics, Wiring drawings, Data Sheets, and safety critical elements.
  5. Industrial Systems Design: Have experience in designing and implementing industrial-based systems.
  6. Troubleshooting Experience: Have experience in troubleshooting existing installations.
  7. Communication Devices: Have experience working with communication devices.
  8. SCADA Platforms: Have experience working with various SCADA platforms, especially in the Oil & Gas industry.
  9. Programming and SQL: Have a basic understanding of programming, scripting, and SQL databases.
  10. Cybersecurity: Have a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
