Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Service is dedicated to revitalizing a robust Educational Psychology Service within the community to facilitate early intervention, consultation, and support for all children and young people with SEND. We aim to cultivate inclusive, supportive, and nurturing environments within educational institutions and community settings. This newly established position provides a thrilling chance to significantly impact the lives of the children and families we support.

  • Oversee and direct a team of Educational Psychologists and Assistant Educational Psychologists, ensuring the provision of high-caliber psychological services to children, families, and educational institutions.
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the service, aligning with the Council's policies and objectives.
  • Conduct psychological assessments and interventions, offering guidance to educational settings.
  • Encourage multi-agency collaboration in accordance with the strategic vision of the community.
  • Advocate for evidence-based practices to contribute to the formulation of policies and procedures.

You will receive outstanding support from the Assistant Director for Education, Inclusion & Achievement and join a friendly, supportive senior management team. We are eager to connect with individuals possessing the following qualifications and experience:

  • A relevant qualification at graduate or post-graduate level.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Considerable experience as a practicing Senior Educational Psychologist or Main scale Educational Psychologist within a Local Authority.
  • Management or leadership experience.
  • The capability to establish and nurture strong working relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of Educational Psychology standards and practice requirements, including guidance, policy, legislation, and current best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of SEND legislation and practices associated with Educational Psychologists and the Local Authority.
