Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled CAD CAM Programmer to join our Applications team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining CNC programs and associated processes to achieve efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. CNC Program Development: Utilize and develop CNC program writing tools/software to provide production machines with programs for smooth operation.
  2. Machine Tool Fixtures: Design and procure relevant machine tool fixtures to optimize manufacturing processes.
  3. Tooling Requirements: Identify and manage tooling requirements to achieve best machining practices.
  4. Manufacturing Improvements: Identify and support manufacturing improvements/efficiencies to reduce costs using lean methodology.
  5. New Product Introduction: Support prototype development actions as required.
  6. Manufacturing Documentation: Prepare accurate details of manufacture, including manufacturing routing and timing accuracy.
  7. Operational Excellence: Maintain and improve existing operations, incorporating new methods and processes.
  8. Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise, support, and development on new and existing product lines.
  9. Liaison and Communication: Liaise with Engineering, Sales, and Purchasing to supply cost estimates for new designs and communicate with suppliers and customers.
  10. Project Management: Project manage technical issues, new product introduction, or existing product changes, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budgets.
  11. Relationship Building: Ensure continued communication and good relationships with external and internal customers.

Requirements:

  • HNC / City and Guilds / Degree or time served apprentice in an engineering related subject.
  • Significant previous experience of engineering/manufacturing in a precision manufacturing environment is essential.
  • An understanding of Solidworks and SolidCAM is desirable but not essential.
  • Practical working knowledge of CNC machine tools and ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and NC code.
