About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Production Scheduler to join our team at Hitachi Rail Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient execution of rolling stock maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the operational maintenance schedule, working closely with the Central Planning Cell to ensure effective and efficient execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Review, prioritize, and schedule maintenance tasks with the Train Maintenance Centre Duty Shift Manager, ensuring alignment with maintenance plan priorities.
  • Identify capacity and resource restrictions that may impact maintenance plan delivery and work with local management and the Central Planning Cell to mitigate these risks.
  • Coordinate the work of contractors and external repair agencies into the maintenance schedule, ensuring seamless integration with our operations.
  • Monitor the backlog of defects to reduce reactive maintenance and improve reliability, driving continuous improvement in our maintenance processes.
  • Be proactive in responding to incidents, disruptions, and emergencies on the operational railway, adapting the maintenance schedule as needed.
  • Ensure defects in-service and emerging work are incorporated into the maintenance schedule, maintaining accurate records to drive improvement.
  • Liaise with Planners in the Central Planning Cell, Duty Shift Managers, and Team Leaders to agree on the maintenance plan to be executed.
  • Administer and manage technical investigations to ensure timely resolution, utilizing the SAP Maintenance Management System and other IT applications to inform and develop the workload plan.
  • Maintain accurate records in SAP, ensuring SOROS is up-to-date at all times, and review defects and correct coding in line with IEP contractual obligations.
  • Participate in daily conference calls and planning meetings, acting as the SAP super user for the Train Maintenance Centre.
  • Maintain the fatigue index for all staff, updating records in accordance with changes to the resource plan, and coordinate with the Training Department to plan training and assessment while maintaining resource requirements.
  • Support the Duty Shift Manager with day-to-day office management tasks, ensuring all overtime, holidays, sickness, and absence are recorded and reported.
  • Prepare reports and provide verbal briefs as required, promoting and supporting health and safety practices in the workplace.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Duty Shift Manager, ensuring work activities for the train cleaning function are allocated to the relevant individual on shift each night and closed in SAP once completed.

About You

We are looking for a skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in maintenance scheduling and production planning. Key requirements include:

  • Previous experience in scheduling maintenance and production.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think quickly.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) – SAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent Hitachi Rail in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
