Research Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Institute of Applied Health Research at the University of Birmingham. The successful candidate will work on Theme 4 (Maternity) of the NIHR West Midlands Applied Research Collaboration, led by Professor Sara Kenyon.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development of new projects and grant applications to investigate how to improve outcomes in maternity care.
  • Undertake mixed methods research across healthcare settings in the maternity pathway, examining processes and outcomes of care when mothers cross boundaries between services.
  • Contribute to writing bids for research funding and disseminate research findings for publication and research seminars.
  • Supervise students on research-related work and provide guidance to PhD students.
  • Collect research data through various research methods and present research outputs, including drafting academic publications.
About the Role

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract up to March 2026. The post holder will join an established team working on the NIHR West Midlands Applied Research Collaboration, with a focus on improving maternity care. The successful candidate will have experience of working within maternity care and implementation science, with a strong track record of research and publication.
