Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant – Primary SEN

GSL Education is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a supportive team in a well-regarded SEN School. Candidates with experience across Early Years to Year 6 are highly encouraged to consider this opportunity.

This institution is devoted to fostering a secure, nurturing, and stimulating atmosphere that enables all students to engage in exceptional learning experiences tailored to their unique needs and interests. The school supports a diverse range of special educational needs, including Autism, PMLD, MLD, Down Syndrome, ADHD, and challenging behaviors, with varying degrees of severity across the student body.

This role is initially offered on a bank basis, with the potential to transition into a full-time position. Working hours are from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualized and general classroom assistance
  • Supporting students with daily tasks
  • Collaborating with the class teacher to plan and implement educational activities
  • Creating and managing classroom displays
  • Monitoring student progress and ensuring a safe learning environment
  • Working across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 to provide additional support as required.

Each classroom is staffed with 10 pupils, 1 Teacher, 2 Learning Support Assistants, and a strong leadership team to offer further assistance.

The ideal candidates will possess:

Experience working with a variety of special educational needs and hold a DBS registered with the update service. Applications from both Primary and Secondary trained Teaching Assistants are welcomed. We also encourage applications from Graduates, University students, youth/support workers, residential support staff, children's security service providers, nursing professionals, and graduates with experience working with children and young people.

GSL Education is committed to the safeguarding and promotion of children's welfare. All candidates applying for positions through GSL must undertake or have completed an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS, with full support provided.

Initially, this role is to start on a Supply/Bank basis, but there is potential for it to become a long-term opportunity for the right candidate.
