We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Janus Henderson Investors. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring the seamless flow and availability of high-quality data across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain efficient, reliable data pipelines using ETL and ELT processes.
- Data Storage and Processing: Utilize Snowflake for data storage, processing, and analytics, optimizing data structures and queries to support analytics and BI initiatives.
- Automation and Integration: Develop scripts in SQL/Python to automate data processes, integrate data from various sources, and support data analytics and reporting.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Leverage Azure cloud-native technologies to enhance data infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Collaboration and Governance: Work closely with Data architects, Developers, and the enterprise data management (EDM) group to understand data needs, contribute to the data governance framework, and deliver on data initiatives.
- Domain Expertise: Apply knowledge of data domains within the finance industry to improve data models, enhance data accuracy, and ensure relevance to business needs.
- Technology Evaluation: Evaluate industry developments in cloud and data-related technologies, assessing their impact and applicability to the existing enterprise architecture.
- Process Improvement: Follow existing Janus Henderson standards and procedures for data movement, providing suggestions for new standards and procedures as the move toward cloud technologies matures.
- Agile Development: Participate in all phases of the agile systems development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Cloud Experience: Experience with Azure cloud, Databricks, Snowflake, PL/SQL, and cloud-native ETL/ELT tools.
- Database Experience: Experience working with databases such as Snowflake, Databricks, SQL Server, etc.
- Reporting Experience: Experience building reports in Power BI using DAX formulas.
- Programming Experience: Experience with languages like Python, PySpark.
- Domain Knowledge: Understanding of finance industry data domains and their application in data engineering.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work collaboratively across teams, excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Technology Skills: Experience with modern technology stacks, agile methodologies, and cloud computing.
