About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Mental Health Education Lead to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role is crucial in shaping the education and development of healthcare professionals working with adults who may present with both physical and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver, and audit professional education and development programs for a wide range of stakeholders, including:
    • Professional Lead
    • Primary Mental Health Care Teams and GPs
    • Voluntary and statutory agencies
    • Inpatient staff
    • Police and Probation service
    • Educational departments
    • MARMAP/Adults at risk facilitators
  • Coordinate areas of responsibility with different time scales to meet specific deadlines.
  • Utilize Visual Display Unit equipment on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all work produced meets high standards and is delivered within established deadlines.

Essential Requirements

  • Professional Registration in Nursing, Midwifery, Mental Health or Social Care Qualification (RN, RMN, Dip SW, CQSW).
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent.
  • Significant proven post-qualifying experience of working with adults who may present with both physical and mental health needs.
  • Past experience of carrying out audit or research projects and completing projects on own initiative.
  • Experience of teaching, assessing, and development of informal and formal training programs.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of providing effective therapeutic evidence-based interventions for individuals with co-morbid mental and physical health issues.

Knowledge/Skills

  • A conceptual understanding of the principles of recovery and social inclusion with the ability to apply them to clinical practice.
  • Excellent skills in relation to assessment, treatment, and clinical management.
  • Proven experience in support and supervision of clinicians utilizing formal and informal processes.
  • Experience in service development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the MHA and Mental Capacity Act.
