Job Title: Public Protection Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Public Protection Officer to join our team at Raynet Recruitment Agency Ltd.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering our food hygiene and standards inspection programme, investigating complaints regarding food and health & safety matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver food hygiene and standards inspection programme
  • Investigate complaints regarding food and health & safety matters
  • Assist with health & safety at work, investigation of accidents and infectious disease control
  • Provide comments on licensing and planning applications, as well as event consultations
  • Carry out appropriate enforcement, in line with the Council's enforcement policy; provide advice, respond to complaints and serve notices as necessary
  • Attend court and other hearings to provide evidence and lead on prosecutions
  • Undertake a multi-disciplined enforcement caseload and manage work effectively
Requirements:
  • Post qualification experience and competence under the Food Law Code of Practice to inspect high risk food businesses
  • Full drivers licence, own vehicle and business insurance
  • Registered Environmental Health Practitioner, suitably qualified as listed in the Food Law Code of Practice
  • Good working knowledge of IT systems including MS office and case management systems
  • Competent to enforce under the Health & Safety at Work Act and associated regulations
Working Arrangements:

The successful candidate will be based as a hybrid of home working and from the Town Hall, in Romford with the expectation of site visits where required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player who is customer focused, technically knowledgeable and with good communication skills.

The ideal candidate will be flexible in their approach to work, able to support other officers when necessary and have a good working knowledge of IT systems.
