Accounts Senior

Mellis Blue Ltd is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality services to our clients and contributing to the development of our practice.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare client accounts and tax returns based on information supplied by clients, advising on tax payable and payment dates, and meeting deadlines in line with our firm's standards.
- Liaise with clients to obtain relevant information for their accounts, acting in a proactive way and ensuring attention to detail and effective questioning of clients.
- Work with managers to develop knowledge of clients and their businesses, becoming their point of contact on day-to-day matters.
- Assist partners and managers with tax planning for existing and potential clients, adding value to our clients' businesses and individual wealth.
- Support partners and managers with specific assignments, such as business planning, advisory, and tax matters.
- Seek to identify business and personal tax planning opportunities, drawing attention to partners or clients as appropriate.
- Prepare client tax returns based on information supplied by clients, advising on tax payable and payment dates, and meeting deadlines in line with our firm's standards.
- Assist clients with accounts software and other book-keeping queries as required.
- Involvement in client seminars, including attendance and setup where required.
- Assist the partner and manager in taking responsibility for the proactive promotion of the firm in conjunction with the marketing department.
- Ability to complete accounts files accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to complete personal tax returns accurately and efficiently.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Strong active listening skills.
- Excellent problem resolution skills and idea generation ability.
- In-depth accounts preparation knowledge.
- Knowledge of accounting systems, including CCH, Xero, Sage Line 50, Farmplan, and other software as required.
- Essential: ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Desirable: Degree or equivalent experience.
- Essential: Minimum of 2 years proven accounts experience within a practice environment.
- Desirable: Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero. Rural business services experience.
