Job Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-Day Management: The day-to-day management of the dairy herd to achieve optimum results and performance.
  • Milking Routine and Production: To manage the milking routine, production levels and milk quality of the herd.
  • Herd Health and Well-being: To monitor the herd health and well-being e.g. routine vet visits, vaccinations.
  • Breeding Programme and Youngstock Management: To manage the breeding programme and the management of calves and youngstock.
  • Record Keeping: To maintain accurate and up-to-date records on herd health, milk production and breeding.
  • Health and Safety: To maintain a high level of health and safety and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Team Management: To proactively manage a small team.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Extensive experience in milking cattle.
  • Practical Knowledge: Practical knowledge and experience of dairy farm duties e.g. DIY AI, foot trimming, calving.
  • Leadership and Communication: The ability and enthusiasm to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-Solving: A problem solver, with the ability to resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Resilient and flexible to support the daily needs of the business.
  • Teamwork: Works well in a team and autonomously when required.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Previous Experience: Previous experience of managing a team.

Remuneration: An excellent salary commensurate with candidate's experience, plus a 3 bed house if required.
