Category Procurement Specialist

The Category Procurement Manager will be responsible for ensuring the procurement of assigned raw materials and packaging categories is in line with Procurement/Supply Chain best practice, company guidelines, site quality, and cost-effective commercial targets. This role will be accountable for global strategy decisions in sourcing, establishing and managing budget/commercials, performance measures, and business goals for the direct sourcing of raw materials and packaging for the site.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships for assigned categories (chemical raw materials and packaging)
- Provide cost information and purchasing trends to internal stakeholders regularly
- Monitor supplier performance, communicate ranking with suppliers to enable continuous improvement
- Work within Global Sourcing to ensure effective coordination of essential site purchasing activities, global contracts, and purchasing continuous improvement projects
- Responsible for direct material and packaging suppliers, managing negotiations and contracting issues, and quality assessments
- Developing and establishing new relationships with strategic raw material suppliers
- Define and manage the supplier performance reviews, including audits (ISO 9000)
- Conduct regular supplier review meetings and improve the current supplier rating criteria process
- Improve the process of tracking supplier performance via pre-agreed KPIs
- Responsible for ensuring adherence and compliance to global purchasing processes and standards
- Support management and departmental teams in the periodic business audits and updating of all procedures, including the identification of critical procedures
- Contribute to site-wide Health and Safety goals by engaging in all aspects of the Health and Safety training
- Strong experience within an industrial purchasing/procurement/sourcing role
- Qualified to Degree level
- Highly influential, with the ability to negotiate effectively across the globe (Strategic Global outlook)
- Experience using SAP systems
- Chemical industry/manufacturing experience preferred
- Can demonstrate effective leadership skills with stakeholders
- Strong process management, including experience of auditing processes
- Great communication skills and the ability to develop long-term cross-functional and collaborative working relationships with stakeholders, across all operational environments
- Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualifications preferred, but not required
