About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused individual to join our team as a Railway Maintenance Specialist. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, inspect, and repair the land alongside the track network to ensure the railway remains safe and efficient.
  • Specialize in Off Track maintenance, including vegetation management, drainage, and ancillary structures.
  • Work outdoors in all conditions, at all times of the year, day or night, and be comfortable with demanding manual work and transporting equipment across challenging terrain.
  • Lead the team when required, using your skills to deliver work safely and ensuring the team has the necessary competencies to meet our strict safety standards.
  • Be a role model for safe working behaviors and confident to challenge any potential risks to safety.
Requirements
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear instructions to the team and other colleagues.
  • Technical skills, with knowledge and experience of inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal techniques in the discipline.
  • Safety skills, with the ability to consistently role model safe behaviors and arrange and implement safe systems of work.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to find safe and effective solutions.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills and competencies relevant to the discipline.
  • Relevant qualification, ideally an NVQ Level 1 or 2 linked to the discipline, or equivalent level of relevant experience.
Working Conditions
  • Shifts will involve a changing pattern, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Outdoor working will be required in all weather conditions.
  • Safe working practices will be essential, with regular drug and alcohol testing and medical assessments.
  • A driving license (category B) will be required for driving Network Rail vehicles.
  • Commute times should be within a 60-minute radius of the location.
