Job Purpose:
As a Risk Assurance Specialist at Travelex, you will play a critical role in supporting the Head of Risk Assurance in the completion of risk management processes and control assessments to an agreed standard. Your primary responsibility will be to support the delivery of the annual risk assurance plan, ensuring the timely tracking and resolution of identified risks and control failures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of the annual review plan in compliance with regulatory requirements, developing the risk-based second-line annual risk assurance plan, and maintaining monthly oversight of risk assurance activity against the plan.
- Support the UK Risk Committee by gathering documentation and information from risk registers and the business to support the preparation of the Committee risk pack. Attend and minute the UK Risk Committee, recording actions, decisions, and steers, and follow up on actions ahead of the next quarterly Committee to ensure updates are available from the business.
- Support risk reviews across the business, issuing documentation ahead of review and following up with updates to risk registers, escalating as appropriate. Conduct stakeholder meetings to ensure risk registers are maintained and accurate, and produce relevant risk reports for the risk committee and UK Legal Entity Boards.
- Collate and disseminate the Consumer Duty Dashboard, working with key stakeholders where opportunities for poor customer outcomes are identified, to continually improve the customer experience.
- Support the delivery of the annual review plan and reporting by undertaking thematic reviews and reporting results to the relevant business, stakeholders, and risk committees. A typical review would include researching and gathering information sufficient to understand the theme/activity to be reviewed, meeting with relevant stakeholders to understand all respective processes and requirements, including regulatory context, performing walkthroughs and documenting business processes and controls where required, formalizing a scoping document, designing and executing a testing program, including testing the effectiveness of controls, identifying risks and issues through testing, drafting findings/reports, including recommendations and mitigation, issuing reports to stakeholders, and validating recommendations/action plans, and following up on recommended actions to completion.
- Conduct data analysis from Management Information to identify and highlight trends, risks, and issues across the UK business, using information to inform this analysis and feed into the development of the annual review plan, and highlighting areas for further investigation. Ensure ongoing monitoring of all Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators and support the Risk Assurance Manager in ensuring all UK regulatory and contractual requirements are met.
Other Responsibilities:
- Test the operational effectiveness and key controls, including but not limited to, sampling of first-line checks.
- Provide proactive support and guidance to the business to enhance the design of key business controls to efficiently manage risk exposures identified.
- Act as the local communications champion for risk, ensuring regular and effective two-way communications between risk assurance and key stakeholders, including Operations, Contact Centre, Finance, HR, and IT.
Requirements:
- Enthusiasm and interest in analysis and understanding business risks, with tenacity to follow through to resolution.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- Excellent data analytical skills and ability to effectively apply these skills to mitigate risk.
- Excellent written communication, report writing, and drafting abilities.
- Good working knowledge of risk management methodologies, including risk identification and assessment, control testing, and reporting.
- Commercial acumen, awareness of balancing risk with commercial opportunity.
Desirable:
- Understanding of FCA, HMRC, ICO, and other applicable rules, principles, and requirements in Payments/FX business.
- Formal risk management qualification or risk assurance experience.
- Knowledge/understanding of AML laws and requirements.
